From Zero to App Store - Day 1
Building My First Mobile App with AI

Hey, inkko here!
In this series, I’ll build an app from scratch using Native Express and Cursor Agent with Claude 3.7 Sonnet. I’ll share every step from zero to the App Store. If you want to receive every update, make sure you’re subscribed to receive all updates from my newsletter and not just the weekly issue.
A First for Me
I’ve never created a mobile application before, so this should be an interesting journey. While I have some basic knowledge of React Native, I’ll try my best to complete this project only using AI.
The App: A Habit Tracker

During this series, I’m building a habit tracker, which I first shared the concept of on X. I’ll implement basic habit-tracking functionalities, premium features, and maybe even widgets along the way.
Getting Started
I bought the Native Express framework to help me get a quick start. It provides everything needed to launch a successful mobile app, including authentication, payments, analytics, notifications, and submission guidelines.
Day 1 Progress
Today, I read the documentation for Native Express and set up my environment by installing all the required tools: Node.js, Yarn, Git, Homebrew, Xcode, etc. Since this is my first app, I’ve decided to build it for iOS only for now, even though React Native allows publishing on both Android and iOS from the same build.
Tomorrow, we’ll dive into the first draft of the app, where I’ll share my first prompt and the results I get from it.
